Uplift Resistance
Tree of Life and Associates (TOL) has performed extensive analyses and lab tests on uplift resistant pedestal-paver systems to determine the effects of wind on raised terrace applications at Miami-Dade certified testing labs. The TOL-tested paver-pedestal terrace system provides up to -455 psf (avg. pounds per square foot) of uplift resistance. Applying an engineering factor of 2:1, our system is certified for -227.5 psf. Thus, our technology achieves higher resistance than the uplift pressures generated by Cat-5 hurricane winds, which are commonly calculated at -170 psf in 10-story buildings in coastal areas following industry standard guidelines as provided by ASCE 7 (Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures, ASCE/SEI 7-22) and Chapter 16 of Florida Building Code (High Velocity Hurricane Zones), including Miami-Dade County.
Adjustable Pedestal System
TOL adjustable pedestal system covers a wide range of heights. Pedestals are suitable for all substrates and ideal for constructing safe, stable, flat floors with every detail finished to perfection. Adjustable pedestals types
Roof Deck is an ideal solution for creating welcoming, functional outdoor spaces, locations for relaxation, well-being, and socializing that are increasingly central to daily life, in both private public and commercial contexts. One of the crucial factors when constructing a roof deck is the choice of pavers, which must combine specific technical characteristics with an attractive, stylish appearance. Porcelain pavers for roof decks are produced and designed to suit the taste and meet the performance and technical needs of the American market.
Roof pavers are produced in porcelain stoneware with a thickness of 3/4″ Porcelain pavers products with outstanding technical characteristics that offer many advantages over traditional materials.
In general, the tiles chosen for a terrace must have the following properties:
- Waterproof
- Resistant to impacts and foot traffic
- Able to withstand weights such as tables, seats, or flower tubs
- Immune to time
- Anti-slip and resistant to thermal shocks
- Easy to clean with low care requirements
- If possible, ensure continuity of appearance between outdoor paving and indoor floor.
- ANTI-SLIP: to prevent dangerous falls in wet conditions;
- THERMAL: to prevent burns if the material is directly exposed to the sun;
- ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTI-MOULD: to guarantee the health of users.
- RESISTANCE
- Pool Deck tiles must be hard-wearing and durable.
- Pavings must be waterproof and weather-resistant.
- Materials must be resistant to frost, corrosion, chlorine, and the acids used to clean pavings, without loss of their structural and appearance characteristics.
